Alpine Start

The term given to the early mornings mountaineers often have when climbing a mountain. In this case 3:30 am.

We were climbing Mt Alpha Centauri in the Purcell Mountains of Eastern British Columbia. My brother and I were up and getting ready to go while our friend was still sleeping in the other tent. 


By sun up we were approaching the glacier and ready to gain the ridge, the crux of the climb. Once on the ridge it was a basic scramble to this 3300m summit.

The highlight of this trip was being woke in the night by a flash and loud clap of thunder followed by 7 cm of snow. The land was transformed into a beautiful wintery landscape.
